The Metamorphosis

The brief introduced the novella ‘The Metamorphosis’ by Franz Kafka, in which an overworked and unappreciated travelling salesman - Gregor Samsa, finds himself transformed into a monstrous insect.

With this as a starting point we were set the challenge of create an unorthodox piece of work which could be either a remake of the text or something influenced by it.

I chose to design a large-format book which would use music alongside film projections of dilapidated buildings and industrial sites to represent the novella’s themes of loneliness, isolation and deterioration to create a unique reading experience.

Promotional Posters

To promote the new way of reading ‘The Metamorphosis’ I designed a series of posters which use lomography to capture the themes portrayed in the projections.
